From Photo to Pawtrait - The Artist Behind Pawtraits
Kirsty has always been drawn to creativity. Growing up in Newcastle, becoming an artist did not feel like the obvious path, so she built a career as a film director and producer. But her passion for art never left.
During lockdown, she picked up her brushes again and began drawing birds, her first love. After creating over 150 illustrations, Birdhouse Art was born.
Today, Kirsty creates detailed, expressive artwork using ink and watercolour, focusing on what matters most, capturing personality, emotion and connection.
Her work has been exhibited in London and she is a member of The Association of Animal Artists and Women in Watercolour.
Every piece is still created by hand in the North East of England with care and attention to detail.

A Pawtrait is a custom, hand-painted portrait of your pet, created from your favourite photo. Each piece is uniquely illustrated by a professional artist to capture your pet’s personality, not just their appearance.
What Size is the Painting?
Your Pawtrait is created in A3 (29.7cm x 42cm), a beautifully balanced size that’s large enough to capture every detail, while still fitting perfectly in most frames and spaces.
When Do I Upload My Photos?
You will be asked to upload your photos once payment has been completed. You will also recieve an email reminder to upload them.
Are the Pawtraits Framed?
Pawtraits are delivered unframed, giving you the freedom to select a frame that suits your space and décor perfectly.
How Long Does My Pawtrait take to arrive
As each Pawtrait is individually hand-painted by Kirsty, delivery typically takes 4–6 weeks. We believe it’s worth the wait for something truly special.
Is this Digital or Hand Painted?
Every Pawtrait is hand-painted by a real artist, not generated by AI or filters. This means each piece is one of a kind and created with care and attention to detail.
Can you include more than 1 pet in a Pawtrait?
Yes, absolutely. We can include 2 pets in one portrait. Just upload photos of each pet and let us know how you’d like them arranged. Select Duo Pawtrait when ordering.
